Musicianship through games- ear training - music theory applied
Age 6-8, 9-12, 13-18 or for adults
This one hour group class is designed to translate music theory into practice. All through fun games! It supplements your piano or any other instrument 's private lessons. In a private lesson, a teacher barely has time to cover everything, so theory is often left to written exercises or classes covering vocabulary. For example, name a note, a chord, a time signatures, or write a missing rest, a beat number. Those exercises are intellectual. It takes a different type of practice to transfer knowledge into playing an instrument and REALLY learn. Here, students recognize, play, feel, hear the notes, chords, and rhythm.
Through fun games, students learn Music Theory, Ear training, embodied rhythm through movements, sight reading, memorizing and singing solfege. For the more advanced, they may learn how to write a tune from the radio or how to recognize chords in pop songs.
WHEN: 9-12 year old or 13-18: Sundays 1:00-2:00 pm (once every 2 weeks)
6-8 year old: Saturday afternoon, time TBD
Adults: time T.B.D.
Placement test for students NOT taking private lessons at this studio is required
WHERE: Fountain Valley. 92708, SoCal.
